I’ve spent my career in electronic and electromechanical product development with experience of embedded systems, industrial electronics, medical device, military and entertainment industries. I am passionate about the design and manufacturing of high quality products.

I am an effective manager of technical teams and resources; experienced in outsourcing of technology development and engineering activities. I pride myself on my practical ‘hands on’ approach with exceptional attention to detail.

Experience:

Delivering NPD using Waterfall, V-model & Agile approaches from concept/requirements stage through design, prototyping, test, production engineering, pilot build and transfer to production. 

Managing existing portfolios of electronic / electro-mechanical / machinery products – maintenance, documentation, engineering change control, value engineering, obsolescence planning, Type approvals, CE marking. 

Practical application of EU Machinery / Low Voltage Directive / EMC Directives &  Medical Device Regulations; enabling confidence in CE marking & smoothing the path for 3rd party product Type approval.

Effective application of EN / ISO / IEC / NFPA / CSA product & harmonized design standards (e.g. EN60204, EN61010, EN60601-1, EN80601-2-12, EN14971, EN62304, EN62366, NFPA79) to achieve safe, compliant, robust product designs meeting internationally recognised standards.

Working effectively under Quality Management Systems e.g. ISO9001 / ISO13485. Application of Agile & Risk based design methods, and Risk Management to enable teams to deliver products more predictably.

Continuous improvement of engineering processes and procedures; process mapping, procedure definition, checklist development.

Design review of Electronics, Electrical, PCB, Electromechanical aspects, Design for Test, Design for Manufacture

R&D Tax Credit claims – data gathering, analysis, reporting and technical justification to enable submission of successful claims to HMRC.
